En Attendant Ana:

Het Parijse kwintet En Attendant Ana, geprezen sinds hun debuut-EP ‘Songs From The Cave’ uit 2016, onthulde in februari 2023 hun hoogtepunt met het derde album ‘Principia’. Margaux Bouchaudon, de voornaamste songwriter van de band, zoomt met het album in op wereldse verwarring. Samen met gitarist Max Tomasso, bassist Vincent Hivert en drummer Adrien Pollin creëert ze lichte, verfijnde indiepop. De trompet en saxofoon van multi-instrumentalist Camille Frechou voegen hier nog een elegante nuance aan toe. Met ‘Principia’ maakt En Attendant Ana een grote stap voorwaarts, zonder ook maar iets van hun authenticiteit in te leveren. Knipoogjes naar Franse en Angelsaksische indiepop blijven aanwezig, maar nummers als ‘Wonder’, ‘The Cutoff’ en ‘Same Old Story’ laten een filmische, romantische evolutie zien voor deze uitzonderlijke band.

Parisian indie outfit En Attendant Ana fuse strong melodic songwriting with a fuzzy lo-fi approach, splitting the difference between a garage punk aesthetic and pop sophistication. They released their 2018 debut, Lost and Found, on Chicago’s Trouble In Mind Records label, followed two years later by Juillet. 
 The band formed in 2014 around the quintet of Margaux Bouchaudon (vocals, keyboards, guitar), Camille Fréchou (trumpet, guitar, backing vocals), Maxence Tomasso (guitar, backing vocals), Antoine Vaugelade (bass), and Adrien Pollin (drums). After debuting in 2016 with the noisy six-track Songs from the Cave EP, a collaboration between the Montagne Sacrée and Buddy Records labels, En Attendant Ana scored an American distribution deal with Trouble In Mind Records, which issued their full-length debut in the spring of 2018. Lost and Found paired youthful energy with the jangling tone of Britain’s mid-’80s C-86 scene and a bit of The Velvet Underground attitude.
